I recently discovered that some of the Y6 students I work with were shaky on formal multiplication, but all at slightly different points.
So I sat down to create a ‘forensic’ assessment which would show us in granular detail exactly who was stuck where, so we could help them out.
This is the result, and I am happy to share it with you.
If you are familiar with variation theory you will see how the assessment was created – each question is designed to increase very slightly in complexity so we can find the precise point at which each student gets stuck.
